It’s something that I haven’t really thought about before this week.
I have NEVER been to a vegetarian or vegan restaurant.
Well I have now, and of all the places to do that has been in Banja Luka, the home of the famous Banjalučki Čevap.
Banja Luka, a city in a country renown for it’s heavy reliance on meat. A veritable meat eaters paradise.
It seems like only yesterday that mentioning vegetarian meals (let alone vegan) would have prompted some exceedingly “voiceful” responses.
But here we are in 2018, visiting a very attractive restaurant in the centre of the city, that has no red meat at all on it’s menu.
Restoran Zen is at Srpska 101.
OK there’s Chicken, Turkey and Fish on offer, but the menu is certainly creative, offering not only tofu meals but also twists on the traditional, with veggie variations of both Čevap and Sarma.
Depending on the day and time of day, will mean whether you’ll need to book a table now advance or simply “queue” outside and take your chance.
Yes, Restoran Zen IS that popular.
We plan to go back and sample the menu for a more in depth review, but to give you something to tease your taste buds, check out the video below.
