Meeting a Bosnian Olympian in Croatia

This time last year (2018, Tamara and I spent some 6 weeks on Čiovo, an island just off the Adriatic coast opposite Trogir.

The time spent on Čiovo was quite the adventure in many respects, especially meeting interesting people and hearing amazing stories.

For example. I got to meet Mario Franjić, who now is a resident of Breda in the Netherlands, but originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mario was a member of the Jugoslavija National four man Bobsled Team in the 1984 Olympics held in Sarajevo.

Mario Franjić

A big man with a big personality.

And a cool twist.

Mario's son is now representing the Netherlands in Bobsled.

The Sarajevo Olympic BobSled track was destroyed in the conflict of the 1990's.

Here's a crazy video of a mountain biker negotiating the track that Mario did back in '84.

Čiovo really is a nice place to visit.
